Tech Giant Microsoft Issued a $7.5 Billion for GitHub

On Monday, Microsoft made a significant announcement that it was acquiring GitHub. GitHub is one of the most popular coding platforms where app developers collaborate and share ideas and projects. The Acquisition was bought with Microsoft stock worth $7.5 billion. The multi-billion dollar acquisition deal will strengthen the corporation’s relationship with software and app developers and enable its tools to reach a broader audience in the world of open-source applications. Microsoft alluded that there are over 28 million application developers and coding wizards that make use of the GitHub platform. The Microsoft spokesperson acknowledged the critical role that has been played by app developers in bringing the current revolution in the modern economy.

Microsoft’s spokesperson also added that every corporation is today becoming a software corporation and that developers were the center of the ongoing digital transformation of the 21st century. The most active business organization on the GitHub platform known as the Redmond, Washington Company said that it was making plans to accelerate the platforms use by small companies and big corporations from around the world. The company said that it would strengthen its sales team, their cloud technology infrastructure and the existing corporate partnerships to achieve this goal. Microsoft, however, said that GitHub would continue to be an independently operated platform that was open to any new developers.

The vice president of developer services at Microsoft, Nat Friedman, is set to become the new chief executive officer at GitHub. If the acquisition deal passes the regulatory review, it is expected to be finalized at the end of 2018. The acquisition by Microsoft comes at a very critical time. It comes when the cloud computing industry is experiencing explosive growth where both small organizations and big companies are migrating their information and operations to the cloud. In 2018, cloud computing services are expected to account for an impressive $186 million. This figure represents a 21% increase from last year’s figures.

These statistics were released by a report that was released recently by Gartner. The cloud services industry is expected to continue to grow in the coming years. It is anticipated that the cloud services industry will account for over $300 billion by the end of 2021. Tech analysts also suggest that GitHub will be crucial in helping Microsoft grow by attracting new coders and developers to its cloud computing platform known as Azure. The acquisition also reflects the new business strategy that has been adopted by Microsoft’s chief executive officer, Satya Nadella.
