There’s none of that traditional feel to the clinic, so clients won’t come out feeling like they’ve just received a medical procedure. Instead, clients get a first-hand experience of the innovations in beauty, and leave feeling happy to come back regularly for treatments. In July, 2017 Dr. McKenna told Forbes regarding OVME that “We want to build a brand around retail medical aesthetics. The industry is highly fragmented. You have dermatologists and plastic surgeons. Botox has good brand recognition but there’s no service provider or retail outlet with a brand that people can identify with across the country.”

You may know Dr. Mark McKenna as the innovator and entrepreneur behind ShapeMed, which he eventually sold to Life Time Fitness Inc. in 2014. Before he was a serial entrepreneur, he obtained his medical degree from Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans, Louisiana.
At heart, Dr. McKenna has always been an entrepreneur.
In an interview for CEO CFO Interviews, he says that “I believe that entrepreneurs are born – however environmental factors certainly play a part. Both of parents worked for themselves – My father is a surgeon in private practice and my mother owns a publishing company. From a very early age my archetypes entrepreneurs. I consider myself fortunate to have such positive role models.”
Once he was finished with school, Dr. McKenna started practicing medicine with his father. At the same time, he also founded McKenna Venture Investments which focused on real estate investment. Hurricane Katrina raged through New Orleans and swept up Dr. McKenna’s business interests in its wake. He focused his efforts on rebuilding the area before moving to Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. McKenna has not been one to give up after a loss. He notes that he learned the lesson early on, “In my early twenties one of my mentors once told me that you aren’t a businessman until you lose everything at the time I didn’t understand what he meant because I enjoyed early success as an entrepreneur… now I do.”
Dr. McKenna envisions that OVME will become “a national chain of cosmetic medical offices with an app that will function like an Uber for Botox patients” according to Medical Times Daily.
He’s also planning the next two OVME clinic locations – in Nashville and Las Vegas. For now, clients will be able to visit the premiere location, which will have its grand opening on March first 2018 at 3167 Peachtree Rd NE Suite G, Atlanta, GA 30305.
