Kisling Nestico & Redick Polar Bear Plunge

When you think of charity events attended by award-winning attorneys, you probably imagine fancy galas and cocktail parties. Well, it’s time to think bigger—and colder! During the last weekend of February, the lawyers of the Ohio firm Kisling, Nestico & Redick shivered for a worthy cause.

On Saturday, February 23, 2019, a team of attorneys and staff members from Kisling, Nestico & Redick took the plunge and participated in the 16th Annual Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump at Portage Lakes State Park in New Franklin, OH.

The jump raised over $125,000 for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, which distributes food and other basic necessities to relief programs in eight Northeast Ohio counties, which in turn distribute meals and goods at hundreds of soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and other sites serving neighbors in need.  The lawyers and staffers of Kisling, Nestico & Redick—led by the firm’s Director of Operations, Brandy Gobrogge of Akron—were among the more than 700 brave souls who took the plunge.

The team from Kisling, Nestico & Redick exceeded its own fundraising goal of $25,000, raising $30,000 for the cause. According to figures provided by Dan Flowers, President and CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, this sum will provide approximately 120,000 meals to locals of the greater Akron area.

The team was well prepared for the jump, because the firm of Kisling, Nestico & Redick has been participating in the Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump for years, having raised nearly $140,000 for local causes altogether. (In total, the firm has raised over $350,000 for Ohio charities over the years.) The firm’s managing partner, Rob Nestico says, “Each time we’ve participated in the Polar Bear Jump, it has been a highlight of our year.”

The attorneys and staff of Kisling, Nestico & Redick always enjoy the jump’s fun community atmosphere. In keeping with event tradition, many of this year’s jumpers dressed up in silly and playful costumes, ranging from members of the band Kiss to princesses to ballerinas to starfish. Rob Nestico enthuses, “There’s something special about coming together with other members of our community and freezing to show our support to help those in need.”

And the firm’s philanthropy does not stop at the Polar Bear Jump. Kisling, Nestico & Redick’s participation in the jump is just one (chilly!) facet of the firm’s year-long charitable campaign, KNR Care About Kids. With this campaign, the firm aims to help youth across Ohio reach their full potential. Of the firm’s commitment to serving community needs, Rob Nestico has said, “Ohioans have placed their trust in us and we want to give back. Whether it’s fighting in the courtroom or helping our community combat hunger, we are there to support them, the same way they’ve supported KNR over the past decade.”

Even when the lawyers of Kisling, Nestico & Redick aren’t jumping into a lake, they make waves across Ohio. Kisling, Nestico & Redick is one of the state’s largest, most prominent, and fastest-growing personal injury law firms—what Buckeye hasn’t heard the firm’s slogan, “Hurt in a car…call KNR”! The firm has offices in 11 cities statewide: Akron, Beachwood, Canton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Independence, Toledo, Westlake, and Youngstown. These offices combined are staffed with 37 attorneys and 130 support staff employees.

Kisling, Nestico & Redick and its attorneys have received a wide away of prestigious honors from peers in the legal profession. Many of the firm’s attorneys have been honored as Super Lawyers and inductees into the Million & Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Many of the firm’s attorneys—including Rob Nestico—have also been honored as Top 100 Trial Lawyers of America and Top 100 Trial Lawyers of Ohio.

Kisling, Nestico & Redick handles all manner of automotive accident cases, including car, truck, motorcycle, pedestrian, bicycle, and more. The firm also handles many other types of personal injury cases. The firm’s areas of practice include insurance bad faith, dog bite, medical malpractice, wrongful death, class actions, premises liability, and product liability, among others.

Since the firm was founded in 2005, the attorneys of Kisling, Nestico & Redick have helped thousands of Ohio residents recover over $450 million in verdicts and settlements—and to find justice and a sense of closure after being wrongfully injured. The firm’s success can be attributed in part to the inside knowledge of its attorneys and staff; many at the firm previously worked at insurance companies. Rob Nestico explains, “We understand their tactics and we know how they process claims to reduce settlement offers, so we use that information to our client’s advantage.”

Kisling, Nestico & Redick has already achieved great things for the people of the Buckeye State, and they show no signs of slowing down. Between the firm’s success in the courtroom and settlement mediations and its commitment to public service and philanthropy, Kisling, Nestico & Redick will be contributing to the well-being of Ohioans for many years to come.
