You Won’t Guess Who Supports the United States Space Force

As humans’ available technology continues to become more and more advanced at an increasingly rapid rate, it’s unarguably that we’ll end up in outer space. Of course, we’ve already been outside of the Earth’s atmosphere plenty of times, but not outside of space shuttles, the International Space Station, or the Moon.

With an eye to the future, United States President Donald Trump proposed an idea in June 2018 for the US Armed Forces to create a brand-new, sixth branch of the military, the United States Space Force.

As with many things in the current American political climate, Trump’s Space Force idea has been criticized by many and embraced by likely just as many people. Many people don’t understand why the United States should focus its resources on an all-new branch of the military when space exploration and atmospheric traffic isn’t anywhere close to being a big deal.

NASA’s own Administrator – the head administrative position within the United States’ space agency – Jim Bridenstine feels that the development and advancement of the United States Space Force is key to upholding the country’s network of global positioning satellites and even its nationwide power grid.

One of the world’s brightest entrepreneurs supports the Space Force – will this change public opinion, or otherwise help the organization advance?

SpaceX was created by none other than business magnate Elon Musk back in 2002. He founded it with the dual-headed goal of drastically reducing the cost of exploring space and making the colonization of planet Earth’s red, rocky neighbor of Mars possible.

Elon Musk’s favorite business is SpaceX. Tesla and his other companies’ profits are largely handed on to SpaceX to grow and advance space technology and human accomplishments in and related to space. If anybody has a valid opinion on whether the United States Armed Forces should come forth with the US Space Force, it’s Elon Musk.

Just yesterday, on November 3, 2018, said that he staunchly supports the US government’s creation of the Trump-proposed Space Force as a separate entity from the somewhat-related Air Force.

Believe it or not, much controversy surrounded the creation of the Air Force some seven decades ago. Today, it’s clear that the Air Force is helpful to national and global security. The Air Force is unarguably here to stay.

Musk compared the former treatment of the idea of a potential Air Force as an expansion of the United States military to the current idea of expanding into the Space Force. Neil deGrasse Tyson is also a supporter of the June-proposed Space Force.
