When you’re newly married like Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, why not invite a friend for Valentine’s Day? Rebel Wilson shared that she’s never been on a date on Valentine’s Day and Cyrus quickly chimed in saying that they should be a “tr-ouple” on February 14.
Rebel Wilson took to Instagram to share about her new movie “Isn’t It Romantic.” While she’s about to star in the romantic comedy hitting theaters this Valentine’s Day, she shared: “I’ve never EVER had an actual date on Valentine’s Day – so if you’re like me, now you definitely have a date to come see my movie and be kindred spirits!”
In December, Cyrus and Hemsworth were married at the singer’s Nashville home. They called the wedding a “spur of the moment kind of thing” but are pleased to have wed.
After dating on and off for 10 years, the couple said that it just felt right. So what better way to spend Valentine’s Day then with your co-star from “Isn’t It Romantic”?

Hemsworth plays Blake in the movie. He’s the wildly attractive client of the large architecture firm where Rebel Wilson’s character, Natalie, works. The two show no interest in one another until one day, when Natalie suffer a head injury during a subway mugging.

The experience throws Natalie into the star of a romantic comedy. Natalie has never been one to care much for fashion, love or anything super girly. She’s focused on her job and working to become a great architect, though she’s more likely to be asked to get the office some coffee.
From a young age, her mother has told her that she isn’t the type of girl to have a perfect love story. The movie trailer shows a very young Natalie watching “Pretty Woman.” Her mother informs her that she shouldn’t set her sights that high when it comes to love.
In the alternate reality where Natalie is the star of a romantic comedy though, men seem to throw themselves at her. This includes the very attractive Blake. Natalie doesn’t really know what to do with this alternate reality.
Her closet is filled with super girly clothes (most of which are from Wilson’s clothing line Rebel Wilson X Angels). Her apartment has also gone from a tiny disorganized home to an enormous, well-decorated and stunning place to live.
Her closet is a walk-in closet that could have fit her whole apartment inside. Rebel Wilson’s sense of humor comes out strong in the film as she calls the police to report her new apartment and closet. The other woman on the line seems super confused about why Natalie would be upset about a professionally decorated home and beautiful clothes.
The film is a satire that has some fun with some of the funny situations that classic romantic comedies put their stars in. They randomly start singing and dancing when you least expect it.
Oh, and to add to the humor, the film is rated PG-13, which means limited swearing and no steamy love scenes. Rebel Wilson plays this up well and shows her frustration at not being able to get close to the handsome character Blake. The scene always fast forwards past these romantic moments to keep its more innocent rating.
Rebel Wilson’s dating history
The news that Rebel Wilson hasn’t been on a date on Valentine’s Day doesn’t come as a total shock. She hasn’t done a ton of dating in the public eye so far, though she may have had other relationships that she kept more private.
One of her longer relationships was with her co-star Matt Lucas from “Bridesmaids.” The two dated and lived together from 2012 to 2015 – which means they had three Valentine’s Day opportunities to go out on a date. We certainly hope Lucas spent some time with Wilson to celebrate their relationship, but busy filming schedules when both are actors could have meant they were separated for the holiday.
Her most recent dating relationship was with Aden Stay, a 6’5” stuntman. They dated for several months in 2017. Wilson brought Stay as her date to the MTV Movie Awards.
The stuntman was a single dad to two daughters. There’s speculation that the relationship was more of a publicity stunt then a love affair. He went on to date Farrah Abraham shortly after calling it quits with Wilson
Wilson’s most recent headlines surrounding love came from a post she shared on Instagram after two of her co-stars from “Isn’t It Romantic” got married in close succession. On December 27 she shared: “@liamhemsworth’s now married, @priyankachopra’s now married. Ummm I think ISN’T IT ROMANTIC has the MOST loved up cast ever? So i’m pretty sure I’m next …so I’m about to tear up these holidays!”
This post left some speculating that Wilson might be dating someone outside the public view. Wilson hasn’t really clarified what she meant when she said she was next to wed and so that speculation is still out there that she be dating someone.
If she isn’t, the invitation from Miley Cyrus to be a “tr-ouple” this Valentine’s Day might be attractive to Wilson. She’s shown some pretty chummy photos with Liam Hemsworth over the last several months as they shared moments on set goofing off or looking super stylish in the film.

It may not really come as a surprise that Rebel Wilson hasn’t done a great deal of dating up to this point. Rebel Wilson has been quite focused on other things, like her acting career and other enterprises.
Since Wilson came to the U.S. from her hometown in Australia in 2011, she’s been focused on growing her acting career alongside some additional business ventures. Upon her arrival in the U.S., Wilson was offered a role in “Bridesmaids” that was written just for her. This kick-started her career as a comedic actress and she hasn’t slowed down since then.
In addition to acting, Wilson launched her clothing line Rebel Wilson X Angels in 2017. A stylish line of fashion for plus sized women, the line has seen good success with availability in Lord & Taylor, Dillard’s, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, AdditionElle and Dia&Co. She hasn’t backed down from ensuring that the fashion allows women to feel good about themselves no matter what size they wear.
Wilson also has Camp Sugar, a production company where she writes and sells her own scripts to studios. She wants to empower female actresses by giving them lead roles in films. Her production company will release “The Hustle,” a remake of the move “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.”
Though the 1988 version starred two men, Steve Martin and Michael Caine, Wilson’s version will star her and Anne Hathaway to show that female empowerment.
She also gives back by sponsoring students in Tanzania at St. Jude’s. Giving back has been a recurring theme throughout Wilson’s life as she served in South Africa as a Rotary International Youth Ambassador for Australia before her move to the states.
In fact, it was during this time in South Africa that she claims she knew she wanted to be an actress. She suffered hallucinations due to a bout with malaria. During this time she saw herself winning an Oscar as a successful actress. It was at this moment that she says she knew she wanted to focus on acting.
Rebel Wilson’s Valentine’s Day plans
It’s unclear whether or not Rebel Wilson has taken Miley Cyrus up on her offer to hang with her and her new husband Liam Hemsworth as a “tr-ouple” on Valentine’s Day. It’s likely that the actress will be celebrating her success in her first starring role in “Isn’t It Romantic.”
The movie is set to hit theaters Valentine’s Day. With its comedic twist, it should be a good movie to see with a significant other or a group of girl friends.
