Privacy in technology in the United States has been taken a notch higher. A law has been set up to ensure that the online data is restricted on how businesses access and interpret data. In California, a bill has been set whereby people have the right to access information regarding companies’ access and who they send such details to. Big technology firms such as Facebook, IBM, Microsoft, and Google have set up measures to ensure that their data is highly confidential. The new law will be superior to the California law that aims at giving companies a broad way of handling information digitally.

The president of a leading lobbying group council is spearheading a federal law that is aimed at developing its blueprint. This could turn into a disagreement between the company and consumers due to privacy issues. Facebook is on the blame for mishandling personal users’ information and violating existing user data legislation. Tech companies have put effort to fight privacy regulation that aims at transforming the California proposal to law. The law could spread to other states that could serve as a marketing tool. Companies like IBM and Sales force that are known for selling of data storage devices and software to other businesses are more than willing to accept the new legislation since it will partially benefit them.

Most social media companies like Facebook and Google are reluctant to accept the new laws since they primarily rely on advertisements for revenue collection. However, this changed after agreements were made that the two would be part of the negotiating team that would make the laws. Facebook has yet agreed to the new social privacy regulation network through its chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg. Efforts have been set to ensure policymakers put in place workable frameworks that would provide a long-lasting law. The Trump administration has expressed lots of efforts to create a business-friendly code that would favor both the producer and the consumer in the market. Stakeholders in the industry are also looking forward to the administration to show its leadership concerning the issue.

The administration intends to put rules in place that are different from those of the Obama administration. These include the Commerce Department, Federal Trade Commission and National Institute for Standards and Technology. Consumer’s privacy groups are pushing lawmakers to strengthen the laws for fear of a possible turn of events. Bussines groups, however, differ with the judge saying that this could hurt the consumer.
