Georgia Hutchinson is a student at Woodside Middle School. She won $25,000 in the National Science and Engineering Contest on October 23. She competed against 30 other finalists. Georgia built a system that would maximize the efficiency of solar panels by allowing them to follow the sun.

The contest was held by Broadcom MASTER. Georgia stated that winning this contest was a dream for her. She has a love for science and engineering. She was happy that she was able to share that love with others.

Georgia used data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to conduct her experiment. She was able to determine the position the sun was at during various times of the day and night. She built a computer model based on what she found. She is currently working with an attorney to get her idea patented. Her project will be even more durable if she can take the weather and roof elements into account.

Georgia first entered the project into her school’s STEM fair. After she won the school STEM fair, she entered the state award. She went to the nationals after she won the state award.

Georgia will be saving the money for her education. She has a lot of things planned for the future. She looks forward to continuing her scientific research in high school. She also plans to participate in water polo.

Furthermore, Georgia wants to come up with more solutions. Jennifer Parker, who is Georgia’s teacher, stated that Georgia’s future is bright, and she will be doing a lot more. Jennifer also stated that the scientific future will be better because of Georgia.

Georgia plans to become a mechanical engineer. She enjoys going to science fairs because she likes to hang out with kids who have the same interests as you.
